Election of the FMSQ Board of Directors for 2013-2015
Montreal, March 22, 2013 – The annual Delegates' Assembly of the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (FMSQ) yesterday elected the members of its Board of Directors for a two-year mandate.
Dr Gaétan Barrette, a radiologist at Montreal's Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, was re-elected for a fourth mandate as President. He will be backed by Dr Diane Francoeur, an obstetrician and gynecologist at the Sainte-Justine University Hospital, as Vice-President; by Dr Richard Montoro, a psychiatrist at the MUHC – Montreal General Hospital as Secretary; and by Dr Raynald Ferland, an oto-rhino-laryngologist at the Centre hospitalier de l'Université Laval (CHUL) as Treasurer.
The other members elected to the FMSQ Board of Directors are : Dr Harold Bernatchez, a medical microbiologist and infectiologist at the Centre hospitalier régional de Rimouski, Outlying Regions Representative; Dr Roger C. Grégoire, a colorectal surgeon at the CHU de Québec – Hôpital Saint-François d'Assise; Dr Lucie Opatrny, an internist at the St. Mary's Hospital; Dr Stephen Rosenthal, an emergency medicine specialist at the Sir Mortimer B. Davis – Jewish General Hospital; and Dr Karine Tousignant, a nephrologist at the Centre hospitalier régional de Trois-Rivières, Intermediate Regions Representative.
The Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec represents more than 9000 medical specialists certified in one of the 53 recognized medical specialties.
