Diagnostic Radiology

Diagnostic radiology specialists establish medical diagnoses using images of the human body obtained by means of various imaging techologies: X-rays (“conventional” radiology, mammography, bone densitometry, angioradiology and computer-assisted tomography [CAT scans]), ultrasound and magnetic resonance. Radiologists are specialists in medical imaging, regardless of the technology actually used. As medical consultants, they answer the questions of other physicians, both general practitioners and specialists. They are being increasingly called upon to perform interventional radiology (angioplasties, biopsies, punctures) using one of the various types of imaging technology.
