Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases

Microbiology and infectious disease specialists are responsible for the clinical and laboratory diagnosis of everything that relates to epidemiology, the management and prevention of infectious diseases. In particular, they are interested in the nature and effect of diseases caused by microorganisms. The specialty has a number of subdivisions, such as bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, virology, mycobacteriology, serology and community infectious diseases.
