Dermatology

Dermatology is a medical and surgical specialty that treats abnormalities and diseases that affect the skin, oral and anogenital tissues, the hair and nails. Some of the problems encountered are allergic skin diseases (including skin tests), infectious diseases (e.g. STD, AIDS), immunological diseases (including collagenosis and vasculitis), metabolic disorders (including complications from diabetes), the prevention and treatment of skin cancer (including melanoma and skin lymphoma), phototherapy and laser treatments, Moh’s surgery and the psychological problems caused by dermatological conditions. Dermatologists treat skin disorders in children, the elderly and also gynecological patients. They are also the leading experts in certain types of plastic surgery.
