Cardiac Surgery

Cardiovascular and thoracic surgery is a medical discipline that deals with the surgical treatment of congenital and acquired pathologies of the thoracic cage – i.e., the heart, lungs, trachea, esophagus and large vessels. This medical specialty also includes several “quaternary” areas of activity, such as heart/lung transplants and mechanical circulatory support.
