Medical Biochemistry

Medical biochemistry is a hybrid specialty that combines laboratory investigations into biochemical/metabolic disorders and clinical practice in metabolic medicine. Medical biochemists act as consultants with respect to the analysis, investigation and diagnostic interpretation of biochemical and metabolic abnormalities associated with all types of pathologies, whatever their cause. As clinicians, medical biochemists provide expertise in metabolic disorders specifically with respect to the diagnosis, follow-up and management of hereditary and acquired metabolic disorders, nutritional medicine and pharmacotoxicology.
