Profile of the ProfessionMedical FederationsFollowing the example of medical specialists, other federations have a mandate to represent various medical groups. The Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québecc (FMOQ) represents general practitioners and family physicians; the Fédération des médecins résidents du Québec (FMRQ) represents medical residents in both general and specialized medicine; and the Fédération médicale étudiante du Québec (FMEQ) represents medical students. The first three federations represent their members in dealings with the paying organization (the RAMQ) and the Ministère de la Santé et des Services sociaux du Québec (MSSS). The federations ensure the protection of their members’ economic, social and political interests, as well as the development and visibility of their profession. The federations work together on many of the topics that come before them. When an agreement reached by one federation comes into effect, it often has an impact on the members of the other federations. |
