Since 1990, the Quebec Physicians’ Assistance Program (Programme d’aide aux médecins du Québec) has provided reassurance and support to all physicians, medical residents and students trying to cope with psychological, mental health, drug/alcohol addiction and other problems. These services are free and completely confidential.
Only too often, physicians ignore their own health because they are so concerned with that of their patients. However, a patient’s health depends above all on that of the physician.
The PAMQ is a non-profit organization that is able to provide services thanks to the generosity of donors. The medical federations, the Collège des médecins du Québec and the Canadian Medical Association are partners in helping the PAMQ continue its activities concerning Quebec physicians.
