Dr. Gaétan Barrette Re-elected as FMSQ President
Montreal, March 20, 2009 – The Delegates Assembly of the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec (the FMSQ) elected its Board Members on March 19, for a two-year term.

Dr. Gaétan Barrette was unanimously re-elected President for a second term. Dr. Barrette is a radiologist at Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont in Montreal.
Executive Committee members were elected at the first meeting of the Board. The President will be assisted by Drs. Josée Parent, a gastroenterologist at Montreal General Hospital (MUHC) as Vice President; Bernard Bissonnette, a rheumatologist at Hôpital du Sacré-Cœur de Montréal, as Secretary; and Maurice Boudreault, a psychiatrist at the Child Psychiatry Centre – Résidence du Sacré-Cœur, as Treasurer.
The other members elected to the FMSQ Board of Directors are Drs. François Delisle, a neurologist at Centre hospitalier régional de Rimouski and representative of remote regions; Raynald Ferland, a ENT specialist at Centre hospitalier de l’Université Laval (CHUL); Diane Francoeur, an obstetrician/gynecologist at Sainte Justine Hospital; Pierre Gaudreault, a pediatrician also at Sainte Justine Hospital; and Raymond Hould, an orthopedic surgeon at Hôtel-Dieu d’Arthabaska and representative of intermediate regions.
The mission of the Fédération des médecins spécialistes du Québec is to defend and promote the economic, professional, scientific and social interests of medical specialists who are members of its affiliated associations. The FMSQ numbers more than 8,000 members in Quebec, representing 35 medical specialties. It is the sole organization recognized by government with respect to negotiating medical specialists' collective agreements, and is also consulted on all aspects of the organization of medical care in Quebec.
